How does he think this is okay

So I work with heavy machinery that is run from a computer. At the end of the day we shut everything down and check to make sure everything is off and shutdown properly. This is done by the last person on our team who closes alone. Instead of checking his computer before going home he took a picture of his screens to check when he went home. Keep in mind we work with heavy machinery. I received a text from him late at night letting me know he forgot some things on and that he wanted to help me out by letting me know before I came in the next morning. Luckily it wasn't anything very dangerous left on this time but what scares me is he doesn't see anything wrong with this even though he's been trained to check everything before leaving. His excuse was that he was tired and wanted to go home and watch mandalorian. Our closing check literally takes less than 5 minutes.
